Since July 2024, all new cars, vans, trucks, buses, and motorhomes sold and manufactured in the European Union must, by law, have a certificate proving that they are cybersecure, as required by the UNECE/R155 regulation.

Having an in‑depth understanding of UNECE/R155 is essential for any professional in the automotive and mobility sector. The regulation affects vehicle and component manufacturers, but also users, fleet managers, insurance companies, assessors, mechanical workshops, body shops, converters, dealerships, and public administrations. For this reason, Grupo CYBENTIAhas created the expert course “Cybersecurity Regulation for Vehicles UNECE/R155,” with the first enrollment period open until April 5, 2026.

This is a 15‑hour online training program in which students explore six exclusive audiovisual modules, complemented by specialized reports, key documentation, and additional materials. Upon passing the final assessment, participants will receive a certificate accrediting them as “Expert in the UNECE/R155 Vehicle Cybersecurity Regulation.

Do you work in a company that manages vehicle fleets? Are you an automotive journalist? Are you the CISO of a car brand? Do you work at a dealership, workshop, or component manufacturer? Are you a vehicle insurance agent? Do you know how the UNECE/R155 Vehicle Cybersecurity Regulation is impacting the automotive and mobility sector? Do you know what the CSMS is? These are some of the questions addressed in the expert course developed by Grupo CYBENTIA.

The course -available in the Training Area of the Grupo CYBENTIA website- has been developed in collaboration with experts from the Basque technology company EUROCYBCAR, a European reference in automotive and mobility cybersecurity.

EUROCYBCAR was the first in the world to develop and patent a test that measures and certifies the cybersecurity level of a vehicle, using the ESTP methodology and in accordance with UNECE/R155. Together with AENOR, they were also the first in the world to issue a cybersecurity certificate for a vehicle in 2022: the CargoPro electric motorcycle by NUUK. The “Vehicle Cybersecurity Certificate” is based on the certification scheme jointly developed by EUROCYBCAR and AENOR and verifies whether a vehicle meets the cybersecurity requirements established by UNECE/R155, meaning whether it properly cyber‑protects the privacy and safety of the people on board.

The training is delivered online and consists of 15 hours of audiovisual content divided into six modules that thoroughly break down all aspects of the UNECE/R155 Vehicle Cybersecurity Regulation.

  • Module 1 – Why a cybersecurity regulation for vehicles: Explains, through real examples, the need for a cybersecurity regulation applied to connected and electric vehicles, as well as to the fleets they form.
  • Module 2 – Cybersecurity requirements a car must meet to be sold in the EU: Covers the history and timeline of the regulation’s creation and identifies the main European institutions and companies involved in its development.
  • Module 3 – UNECE/R155: everything you need to know: Clarifies the most significant aspects of the regulation, such as which companies must comply and what obligations this homologation entails..
  • Module 4 – 70 cyberthreat examples vehicles must be protected from: Provides an exhaustive review of UNECE/R155 to clarify the aspects that must be considered during the homologation process of a vehicle manufactured in and for Europe.
  • Module 5 – How to measure and certify vehicle cybersecurity: the EUROCYBCAR Test and ESTP Technology: Analyzes different perspectives on existing cybersecurity evaluation methodologies, reflecting on their validity and applicability to connected vehicles and the need for a specific methodology.
  • Module 6 – Impact of UNECE/R155 on the automotive sector: Explores how compliance with UNECE/R155 is affecting manufacturers and key stakeholders in the automotive and mobility ecosystem: logistics, suppliers, workshops, dealerships, and more.

At the end of the training, participants who complete all modules will undergo an evaluation. Those who pass will receive a certificate as “Expert in the UNECE/R155 Vehicle Cybersecurity Regulation,” issued jointly by Grupo CYBENTIA and EUROCYBCAR.
